<image:title>Signature Restorative Massage - Restorative Massage..</image:title>
<image:caption>Restorative massage is a blend of deep tissue, Thai, relaxation massage and somatic movement therapy. Somatic movement is guided movement that will encourage more body awareness and help release tight areas in your body. It empowers you with the knowledge of simple movements that will help re-educate the nervous system to promote greater ease of movement. My discovery of somatic movement came after many years of having nagging low back and pelvic pain after an emergency C-section. While homeopathy and bodywork helped, it did not get rid of some of the nagging issues that I believed resulted from scar tissue and some partial nerve damage. Once I started doing somatics everything started waking up and changing, giving me reduced aches and pains and allowing my body to get to a place of greater ease and comfort. I was so amazed by the immediate results I decided to enroll in a course while continuing my own practice of this type of body movement. The results have been amazing while just introducing a few of the movements to my clients before they get on the table. And the more I started incorporating this into my practice the more positive results I started hearing. So I am so excited to offer you a new approach. An approach that will start re-educating your nervous system and in turn change the way you feel and move. Hear what clients have been saying since I started incorporating somatic movement therapy into my sessions: “My hips feel so aligned and balanced…I can’t believe it.” “Wow, I feel so much better in just 15 minutes of doing those simple movements…I can’t believe it.” “Those moves really woke up my core, I feel like muscles that haven’t been working just woke up. I’m amazed!</image:caption>

<image:title>About Me - Wanda Cox, LMT</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m a Southern girl, born and raised in North Carolina. I joined the Army and traveled the world for 10 years. Another 10 years were spent serving in the Navy Reserves and moving around to various job sites as a computer programmer. After five years working as a programmer, I decided a desk job was not for me and found myself applying to a nearby massage therapy school. I graduated from the Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy in Newington CT in 2002. After graduating I did a combination of personal training, massage therapy & wellness and nutrition consulting, but have been focused primarily on massage for the last 12 years. I have been a CT licensed massage therapist since 2003 and had a successful business called West Hartford Massage Spot located in West Hartford, CT. My family and I moved to Jacksonville, FL a few ago months and it feels like I am back home. I’m happy that I am able to offer my services at my new office location in St. Johns (close to the Pavillion at Durbin Park). My specialty is combining a variety of techniques including sports, Thai, craniosacral, and myofascial release into a body balancing experience for my clients. My goal for each client is greater awareness of their body and how it moves in daily life and give them the tools to tweak those movements and habits to provide ease of movement and reduction of pain. I am passionate about bringing the therapeutic benefits of massage to as many people as possible. I think it is time for people to shift their thinking of massage – massage is no longer just a luxury but a wonderful and necessary component to their overall wellness plan. It can keep injuries away, help with recovering from accidents and injuries, reduce or eliminate need for surgeries, and the list goes on and on with the benefits of regular massage. In our chaotic, over-stressed, overbooked lifestyle we need to do all that we can do to reduce stress therefore reducing all the ailments brought on and aggravated by stress. I think the cost of regular massage is a small price to pay for something whose benefits are life changing.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home visits - Home Visits or Mobile Massage</image:title>
<image:caption>Home visits are typically for an established client, meaning you have already had an office visit with me. However, there can be some exceptions. If you have been injured and are home recovering from a surgery, a broken bone, a sprain or strain injury and a home visit would be a better option you may call me to discuss. Also geriatric massage is another option for home visits in which the potential client has problems traveling, has limited mobility, restricted to bed rest, etc. would be other reasons a home visit would be preferred and will be considered on a case by case basis. An additional travel fee will be added to current prices based on miles. Please feel free to call me, 904-588-2338, to discuss a home visit. <image:caption>Deep Tissue Massage therapy involves firm and slow strokes to encourage relaxation of muscles and fascia. Deeper work involving pain is not better. The goal is to contact deep enough to effect change for the client you are working with and remembering each client is different.
